I loved the hands on experience I received during my internship. I was given the responsibility to lead the store and make decisions as the leader on duty which was very empowering. I loved working with the other ETLs in the store as well as working in an environment with great people.

Advice

Be prepared to be fully immersed in the leadership aspect during this internship. Don't be afraid to make mistakes and ask for help when needed. You're not expected to know how to fully run a store, so be open to critique and advice.

Operations Manager Intern

June - August 2018 • Lugoff, SC

What I liked

I loved the company culture at Target and the people I met.

What I wish was different

I wish it had been more structured week to week.

Advice

I think the point of an internship to find different roles or jobs that you wouldn't have to chance once you are out in the real world. While in college we are focusing on one path but why not try something completely out of the box to see if you like it.

Target Employee

June 2018 • Janesville, WI

What I liked

I love customer service. I want to be a marketing and advertising writer, so interacting with customers and taking note of packing and products frequently bought is important for me. I need to write content that appeals to the consumer; what better way than to interact with the consumer!

What I wish was different

I wish I had not spent as much time on the cash register and more time organizing and working on the sale's floor.

Advice

Don't be afraid of entry level positions. Work really hard and show all of your colors in your small position because you will be noticed and eventually handed bigger opportunities. I ended up being asked to transfer to a Target in the Twin Cities and have already been given employee recognition.
